Kinect - Dance Central - Questions?

I saw a video on YouTube about Dance Central (they were actually playing the game to talk about) and had a few questions. Get your avatar to dance (and sometimes talking), or is it a generic avatar? Also, sorting (points) at Dance Central Kinect harder than 1 or 2 Dance? Just do not read your every move? I wondered because the Just Dance, we (my family and I) kind of cheat (only moving our hands). Well as far as I know you do not get to use your own avatar. However, they have quite a few people you choose. I've never played 1 or 2 Just Dance, Dance Central but you should be the key to any movement otherwise you will not get the full points. So cheating is not really an option at this game. I find it more challenging, but a lot more fun especially when I right:)
