do i need the wii channel for internet or can i just use the wireless router for getting internet on to my tv?

do i need to buy the wii channel with wii points or can i just use the wireless router and get internet on to my wii so i can go onto the internet on my tv

If you want to use the Internet for stuff like the Wii Message Board, the Wii Shop Channel, or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you're all set with just connecting to the router. If you want to surf the Internet (go to YouTube, check e-mail, etc.), you need to buy the Internet Channel for around 500 Wii Points.
